Policing & Criminal Justice
Policing and Criminal Justice Inequities
Black Americans are disproportionately affected by police violence and incarceration. They are three times more likely to be killed by police than white Americans and 4.5 times more likely to be incarcerated. Despite over 1,000 cases of police killings each year, only 1% result in charges against the officers involved. This indicates systemic issues within law enforcement and the judicial system (OHCHR) (Human Rights Watch).
