Physical Healthcare Disparities
Health Disparities: Limited access to quality healthcare and higher rates of chronic illnesses contribute to economic instability and higher poverty rates among African Americans.
Health care workers frequently witness racial discrimination against patients, particularly in facilities serving predominantly Black or Latino populations. Approximately 47% of health care workers have observed such discrimination, with higher rates in community-based health centers and hospitals serving majority-Black patients (American Hospital Association).
Black patients often receive lower-quality care and face biases from healthcare providers. For example, they are less likely to receive adequate pain management and may face negative stereotypes when advocating for themselves (The Century Foundation).
