African-American's have higher rates of chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Black women, in particular, face a maternal mortality rate three times higher than that of white women, and Black infants have twice the mortality rate of white infants (The Century Foundation).
Black individuals are also more likely to be uninsured, especially in states with higher Black populations like Texas, Florida, and Georgia. This lack of insurance further limits access to necessary healthcare services (The Century Foundation).
